After seeing everything in the beta, I think the mace is an incredible item. It's fun, it has a unique gimmick, and it's a BRAND NEW WEAPON, which hasn't happened since (I think) the crossbow, back in Village and Pillage. HOWEVER, it is a bit too powerful. Since landing a hit negates fall damage, it's a bit too good, especially since as far as I'm aware, THERE IS NO DAMAGE CAP. Theoretically, you could tower up as soon as you spawn in the end, jump on the dragon from like 100 blocks up, and immediately win without taking out any crystals or, y'know, actually fighting it. Personally, I think all you need to do is give the weapon a maximum height that it can negate fall damage from, and a damage cap so people can't instakill the final boss. Other than that, great item! Glad to see that combat is getting the love it deserves after all this time.
