24w10a: Let furnaces support result count

For ages, I've been frustrated that furnaces only support a string for recipe results, preventing them from having a count. 24w10a finally let them use an object, but still only allows an id and components. Is there a technical or gameplay balance reason that furnaces can only smelt recipes with a single-count output? It seems like an even more arbitrary limitation than ever now.

    ?????

I mean that you can't make it so that one raw iron smelts into nine iron nuggets instead of one iron ingot - furnace recipes can only output one item at a time, unlike crafting and stonecutting recipes
