Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

A “Hook” to Display Items Without Item Frame

It would be great to add a Hook item to the game that would allow players to display items without the unwanted item frame. It’s been 14 years now, how do we still not have a proper vanilla way to display items without the item frame yet?

    I've had similar thoughts regarding this.  The crafting recipe would be relative simple, something like an iron nugget and a stick.  The hook would essentially be a locked, invisible item frame when an item is attached and only visible when nothing is on it. 

     

    The only redstone interaction would be detecting state change with observers and reading whether it has an item (str 1) or not (str 0) using a comparator on the other side of its mounting block (as per an item frame)
