The interface using the blurred backgrounds currently in testing, amongst clashing with the Java style, causes compatability issues and glitches with texture packs. I could argue it also looks worse, but that is up to preference.
The new interface isn't an improvement, merely a change. Updating a preference thing shouldn't remove the original from being an option, the Programmer Art resource pack being a great example of Mojang respecting Minecraft's legacy, style and the players' preference.
I ask you to let the players embrace the divide between bedrock and the original Java style by also giving the og backgrounds as a separate option, in the accessibility settings prehaps. If a blur slider is important enough to make it onto there, why not this too?
The feature is currently integrated quite half-heartedly in Programmer Art. When pressing escape during gameplay, the menu background instantly turns to dirt, instead of showing the darkened gameplay in the background like in actual previous versions of the game.
So if you are to integrate the old menu background as its own option, please do it well. Use the correct backgrounds in the correct menus. Don't merely use dirt everywhere like in Programmer Art.
Additionally, text boxes for saving games, joining servers, etc. should match their previous counterparts when using this option, as opposed to using the new black boxes. Again, integration that should not be done half-heartedly, ensuring satisfaction and will to use the feature.
