I feel as though the current enchantment system needs a revamp. Enchantments are one of those systems Mojang hasn't touched in a while. First off, I'm going to borrow ideas from people smarter than me. The Java mod Reagentchant has some great ideas on how enchants work with Reagents. My opinion is that enchanting tables shouldn't be able to give you high-power enchants. That should be earned with exploration. The enchanting table should give you three eh to mid enchantments, with them costing around 5-15 levels. The anvil's use in enchanting should be reduced. To enchant a tool with an enchanted book currently, you need to use a metal anvil. No sense. Instead, the reagent slot should work with enchanted books, removing the anvil's enchanting use. Also, make Mending unobtainable in the future. Hear me out. Instead, by combining 4 netherite, 4 obsidian, and any enchanted book, you could make a reusable enchanted rune block. When clicked with an item, it would activate, light up, and take some levels. As long as it exists and is placed, the enchant will work. If an armor piece is destroyed, it would deactivate, making it very useful. The mod Indexed also has some great ideas on charged/overcharged items, where the enchantment number becomes a bit more strategic, so that as well. Also, please add a craftable Bottle of XP for everyone's sake. I believe these changes will encourage more exploration, discovery, and adventure in Minecraft for the future. It will also fix XP as well.
