Allow servers to change/control core gameplay features like
- Block placement distance
- Attack Cooldown (modify attack cooldown as well as disable attack cooldown, providing bedrock style combat)
- Attack distance (reach)
- Player speed (without usage of potion effects or any other stuff)
- Field of View (this could cause accessibility issues and hence a warning like the resource pack warning should be issued, to prevent the server from automatically taking control of the FOV)
- Ability key - this should be a keybind, which when triggered sends a "ability" packet to the server, which can trigger server-side code, for modified servers.
This will give servers a lot more flexibility, especially in minigames (eg: reach could be shortened in certain minigames, combat without cooldown could be implemented for certain minigames, the ability key could for some RPG like servers)
For servers utilising this feature, a prompt such as the resource pack prompt could be issued stating "Server X has reduced the reach to 2 blocks" "Server X has ability key [X]"
The ability key is supposed to be set by the player and the ability key must be available only if the server utilises that feature.
Certain features (like reach distance or hit cooldown) could be a gamerule, so that players in singleplayer can modify it too.
I personally think this will give a lot more opportunities for servers to create unique minigames and experiences, without installing clientside mods
