Once a player got full protection 4 diamond/netherite armor, nothing's a challenge anymore. Love the idea of Trial Chambers, but they'll be too easy to defeat when a player is stacked. Getting these OP items is easy once you know how to get them, even with the new experimental villager trading system. Just by watching a youtube you will know how to get it.
I suggest focusing on creating experiences that would be difficult to complete for many different skill levels & types of players: for the top 10% best players while having maxed out gear, another for top 1% players, top 0,01%, and some that only around the 1000 best players in the world can complete.
The ancient cities is a great start to this!
I really think these experiences should be developed in a way so it isn't easy to complete after watching a youtube tutorial on how to do it.
These experiences could consist of & combinations of: combat, obstacle course, inteligens, strategizing, memorizing, redstone, traps, puzzles, building etc.
After failing a challenge, you should be able to practice the skills of that challange in the same survival world, to take it on again later. E.g. crossbow aim, ender pearl throws, make creepers damage other mobs/blocks without taking damage yourself or test how slime and honeyblocks affect a player's movement and redstone. The player could build practice ranges/areas for the thing that they failed on.
