Flares and...

Idea 1: FLARES! There should totally be a way to drop light down a hole so we can see what we are up against or if it's even worth going down into. Strike a flare, give it a toss and light up the dark temporarily, yes, but long enough to assess the situation... Idea 2: I had that is similar to scaffolding, but is more practical for tree harvest / wood gathering is a wrap-around harness (and or maybe spiked logging shoes) to climb trees and chop wood on the way down so we don't have to build up to get the top wood chunks...
