I propose the addition of additional smithing upgrade templates to allow tools and armor starting from either wood/leather to be upgraded to Netherite. The new upgrade templates for tools would be the following: Wood upgrade, Stone upgrade, Iron upgrade, Gold upgrade, and Diamond upgrade. Armor upgrades would be the following: Leather upgrade, Chainmail upgrade, Iron upgrade, Gold upgrade, and Diamond upgrade. The upgrade steps for weapons would be as follows: Wood to stone, stone to iron, iron to gold, gold to diamond. Armor upgrade steps would be as follows: Leather to chainmail, chainmail to iron, iron to gold, gold to diamond. Depending on the method of acquisition of these upgrades having gold be required to ascend past iron to diamond may be optional. My reasoning for having this addition would incentivize players to collect all sorts of tools early or late-game. Having additional options to upgrade your tools and armor can help personalize and inspire players to hang onto what would normally be discarded tools and armor and further utilize them. This would make anything that isn't diamond or netherite loot worth keeping and investing into. Along with these additions would greatly benefit from the "Too Expensive" and limit of how many times you can repair/modify something to be removed entirely. If players earn the needed amount of EXP then they should not be punished for tinkering with their arsenal early on to be later hit with a wall that shouldn't be there.
