With wolf armor coming, I think this is a notable suggestion dating back to 2012 (first mentioned on minecraft forum by TwistedNerve). We are grateful for the z-fighting fix. We would be grateful again if the items used to breed wolves can be made separate from the item used to heal them. I am tired of exponentially breeding my pack of wolves; I do not want to keep making babies when I just want to heal them back up. Especially now that they have armor incentivizing them for battle. While aware their tails go up as they heal; it is hard to tell when they have reached full health just before going into love mode. I do not want to stand there doing geometry with the angle of their tails. I suggest bones to breed wolves, and keep meat as healing mechanic; or any other combination will do as long as they are separate mechanics. For example, we can see how convenient it is for horses: feeding two tamed horses golden apples or golden carrots activates love mode while hay bale, apple, wheat, sugar are foods that exclusively restore health/grow foal). I think this suggestion is totally reasonable and in line with the upcoming armor update to wolves that encourages combat with our 'best friends.' Thank you for all your hard work throughout the years. Going out to hunt skeletons with my furry buddies, sincerely, a long time player.
