Petting mobs in minecraft

I was walking in Minecraft and came across a cat I tamed my cat and was extremely happy, however I was unable to pet it this is unacceptable please Mojang PLEASE let us pet out pets this is an injustice that has gone on long enough! I am so mad and angry and hurt I feel like crying please just let us do this please!
