Selectively breeding wolves for customizable textures and variants

I think it would be nice to have more customization for tamed wolves. Instead of having a set number of textures like cats, however, wolf variants should work more like tropical fish in that they have many combinations of different features. Wolves would spawn in the current texture, with a small chance of spawning with a texture overlay in a random natural color, such as a differently colored crest, for example. By breeding two tamed wolves, one could create a specific pattern in the offspring, which could be influenced by what food is fed to each parent. Things that could be changed by breeding wolves would include fur patterns, the color of said patterns, body length, tail length, about length, and ear size/shape. This would be a fun way to make many different furry friends.

  This would be interesting and sounds very similar to horses however you have to remember there are over 250+ possible variations of tropical fish and having that many variations of wolves would be crazy also I’m not sure how the different foods determining variation would work especially because there are only 5 items wolves can currently eat unless they add more. Personally I think it should be like how ocelots used to be where you find a wolf in the wild and you don’t know what breed you’re going to get until you tame it and it could even just have the chance to stay a regular wolf. I do agree mixed breeds would be very cool as well as certain types of wolfs that only spawn in certain biomes and don’t have variations when tamed. added to the creative menu there could be a wolf spawn egg and a dog spawn egg. The wolf spawn egg could even spawn a different wolf depending on the biome like foxes and frogs.
