So this would be an early game potion mechanic, to transform the player into a variety of animals. Mojang you search for reasons to add more animals into the game, this will provide many.
Examples;
- Hawk: Flying mob, great eyesight, used for surveilance missions.
- Alabatross: Flying long distances, potions could be left at spawn to provide a way faster way of returning to base.
- Rats/ Mice or other small creature: Climb through small spaces. Hostile mobs don't bother it.
- Bat: Exploring caves, use echo vision.
- Sharks/Whales: Exploring oceans.
- Mole: Can see caves like the x-ray bug (come on Mojang, You have been fighting it for years, just make it a mechanic).
Running animals, jumping animals, running, jumping, mythical flying fighting animals. The posibilties are endless.
Potions should be made on the brewing stand (they're found frequently in villages). Players can not carry items whilst transfigured, I feel this would stop this feature being over powered. Drinking from any water source would remove the affect.
Please don't be predictable by having whatever the mob drops be the potion recipe. The ingredients should come from a rare flower, sapling or a purple cave mushroom, just something unique.
