Chainmail armor

So, you know how chainmail armor is unable to be crafted? Well it honestly should be, in both versions, due to the recent addition of literal chains, which make up chainmail armor, so I don't understand why Mojang didn't add the ability to craft chainmail armor out of literal chains, instead of adding in a recipe for it, and adding it to the 1.20 update, it honestly doesn't seem fair, chains only have a few crafts, and some building uses, instead of being used for literal chainmail armor, what would make the most sense to be able to make with these, do you agree?
