0-tick delay is better for its purpose as a T-flip flop and also offers new use cases of its own. "I want it" isn't a valid reason to give the bulb 1-tick delay and make it strictly worse at its primary purpose.

nothing gets ruined by reverting this, and the redstoners will love it, so we might as well just revert this

I have two points to bring up. First, I cannot understand why they claim that the copper bulb was reverted for the sake of consistency. No one wants new features that are the same as old features.

Second, if they are going to remove the one tick delay, it would make sense for the following reason: using lots of copper bulbs creates light updates which can cause some lag. For that reason I can see why they might want it to be less useful in redstone.

The issue here is that the redstone community was really hyped because of the one tick delay and taking it away after receiving lots of positive feedback is strange and caused a lot of disappointment.

To make up for this mistake, I suggest one of three changes is made:
First, they could simply revert the copper bulb to how it was in the first snapshot. (It was great back then)
Second, they could revert the copper bulb and somehow make it possible to use it in redstone without causing light updates.
Third, if they aren't going to bring back the one tick delay, at least add a new component that has this functionality (maybe a copper repeater?) Many players were very excited about the one tick delay and it's introduction into the game would definitely have caused a surge in activity within the redstone community and possibly for all types of players.

We want to be heard, so prove that you can hear us. Minecraft isn't just some kids game where the players don't have an opinion

I agree that this should be reverted.

I don't even use redstone and this change is annoying to me. IT WAS PERFECT THE WAY IT WAS

I feel like recent parity changes have been more likely to remove an interesting feature than to make it work in both versions. The 1 tick delay on the copper bulb is interesting and useful.
Honestly, even as a Bedrock player I would really rather have the copper bulb work differently in Java than abandoning interesting features that don't work in both platforms. Also Redstone is very different between Bedrock and Java anyway; so maybe features should be an improvement. Let chests move in Java, etc.

Why would see something fun and innovative that everybody is raving about and think "lets ruin it for no good reason!" Games are supposed to be fun

Absolutely this is something that should be reverted. Just looking at the community explosion due to the initial iteration of the copper bulb (and crafter) was exciting and brought a lot of hype to the update. Changing it only diminishes that impact.

As far as I can tell, having odd tick delays is only a benefit to the introduction of the block as a whole. It doesn't impede the primary functions of the block (lighting and a t flip flop), and instead only adds more use for the more technical players. One tick of delay is not noticeable in any casual or building capacity and will not impact the average user experience negatively or in a way that causes confusion.

Having blocks that are unique creates new opportunities and fun ways to experiment and play the game. Changing it to be the same as other blocks removes this creativity with game mechanics (something I have issue with the crafter changes as well, but on a lesser scale).

Tick delay based on how oxidized it is.

Dear Mojang, if you really want to understand the potential of 1-tick bulbs, see the Bad Apple in copper bulbs build. No, not the one with command blocks...the one that used only normal redstone and bulbs as both display and a delay line ROM. "May break some builds"...you mean break the hearts of the people who were starting to think you cared about TMC (Technical Minecraft).

There is no reason for Mojang to not revert it.

If the change was for consistency, why are they so anti-consistency with building. There is no cherry wood mosaics, or granite bricks, or stone brick tiles. Redstone players love the inconsistency.

If the change was for parity, why? Mojang has said they weren't adding parity between redstone. Why hold back Java when Bedrock's redstone is already fundamentally flawed. If you want parity, don't take the easy way out and do the necessary rework to allow 1-tick on Bedrock.

If it was for accessibility, the 1-tick delay does not affect novices to redstone. And if they want to learn more in depth stuff, this will not harm them in their learning.

You are taking away a great feature from Java players for no justifiable reason. Revert copper bulbs

We should have 1 tick crafters and copper bulbs. Please vote for this comment if the community wants it!

Absolutely disagree with this ridiculous change. Once again Java is nerfed because of Bedrock. Sort out the redstone on Bedrock or just make Java exclusively different.

I have spent a questionable amount of time to log into here only to vote on this one. The feedback requests that ask for a bedrock redstone rework are being removed, that's a known fact. Hopefully this one won't follow the same fate.

Please revert the change of the copper bulb to allow for a 1 tick delay. The original implementation of the copper bulb was excellent and provided so much utility for the community

I hope the 1 tick will come back! Redstone is unique to Minecraft, this 1 tick feature is like its soul! Imagine all the greatness of Redstone we could do with 1 tick blocks! :)

If I may add a suggestion, if Minecraft wants the 2 tick feature, maybe doing that on oxidized copper and keeping the 1 tick for the pure non-oxidized one? This would also match conductivity of IRL coper in some minecraftian way.

There is another solution, allowing for the 1gt and 0gt copper bulbs to both exist:

Here is an idea, since they already changed it and got the community mad at them, why don't we offer a solution? First, revert the copper bulb and crafter. This will be what everyone is wanting and to a certain degree make people happy again. However there will still be some irritation left over. So they also implement this second part. Second, make the crafter give a signal strength of 10 when all enabled slots have 2 or more items in them. This will give the community something else to look at and may even bring people to be somewhat accepting of the changes that Mojang made. In the end, we would have a slightly better crafter and also have all of the changes that we dislike reverted.

I really hate it too. Mojang say they did so it would be better lined up with the observer, but there are already plenty of blocks lined up with observer. The REAL reason they did it is because they want bedrock to have the same copper bulb in java. Mojang has some really shitty reasons for things sometimes don't you agree? I think Mojang is just lazy and doesn't want to go through all the damn code and fix bdrock redstone so they just nerf the copper bulb so they don't to fix it.

There is no logical reason as to why this would not be good for the game.

I completely agree with this the 1 tick delay was the best thing redstoners could have, and they accepted some random bug report with "inconsistency" bla bla bla

Mojang better see and agree with this cuz nobody liked what they did

Please remember that parity on redstone of all things isn't happening without a complete rework of one of the systems since they are so fundamentally different anyways, so the fact that "you wouldn't be able to do it on Bedrock" is nothing new or astonishing, and does not need to be a major consideration. Thank you for listening, we do hope that action can come from this listening. ^-^

And a reminder for other people, it seems that linking posts will remove them so please do not link this post to anyone, or other posts here. This one is already at the top (a sign that this is important to a decent amount of people)

I am not much of a Redstoner but I can see how much it affected Redstone youtubers like Mumbo Jumbo and Purplers.

The problem with this idea is that the real reason Mojang did this was for parity with Bedrock, because it only runs on 10 tps.

However, this in general is a parity issue that needs to be fixed, and I hope will be done whether the copper bulb is reverted or not. But of course the initial reason bedrock runs at 10 tps is to make it less laggy and able to run on weaker devices, which I completely understand.

But if Java's 20 tps is managed to be ported to Bedrock I definitely think this should be added back. An additional idea to make copper bulbs even more useful is making the delay change depending on how oxidized the bulb is (e.g. 1 tick for not oxidized to 4 ticks when fully oxidized).

Hopefully this change is able to be made and copper bulbs will be useful again! (also fixing other redstone parity like waterloggable redstone in Java and quasi-connectivity in Bedrock would be nice :D)

There is no reason to DELETE a feature that is amazing, even if only in niche situations. I would understand shortening a 3-4 tick delay, but one tick, or 0.05 seconds is so short it is not worth it to delete the extremely compact and easy 1-tick generators

The problem with this idea is that the real reason Mojang did this was for parity with Bedrock, because it only runs on 10 tps.

Parity with Bedrock cannot be achieved without the 20tps because there are already other things that are 3 gameticks in Java, meaning that it will function differently between versions anyways, and that projects that work in one will still break in the other. As such, that is just excuse and this change is very viable on Java Edition. This is the combat adventures and tinkering update. Let us have that second half in full (especially on the version known for freer tinkering)!
