Here are some idea to balance the repair system and mending.
Adds Mending II and III :
- Mending I allows you to repair your weapon up to 25% durability,
- Mending II allows you to repair your weapon up to 50% durability,
- Mending III allows you to repair your weapon up to 75% durability.
In this way if you want full durability you still need to repair the remaining 25%.
Adds the “Indestructible” enchantment (rare) :
- Prevents the item from being destroyed,
- When the item's durability drops to 0, the item no longer has any effect and changes appearance to a broken appearance,
- Enchantment is mutually exclusive with Curse of Vanishing, Curse of Binding (and Mending?).
Basically it would be how the elytra works.
Changes the way the item repair system works (or adds an enchantment that alters the system) :
- The item repair cost becomes constant (it no longer increases with each repair)
- Per item type (only increase 25% durability par repair cost) :
Wood - 1 lvl (+1 planks)
Stone - 2 lvls (+1 cobblestone)
Iron - 3 lvls (+1 iron ingot)
Gold - 3 lvls (+1 golden ingot)
Diamond - 4 lvls (+1 diamonds)
Netherite - 5 lvls (+1 diamonds +1 gold)
For any other item (Phantom Membrane, etc.) - 3 lvls (+1 item)
- Plus 1 lvls per enchantment on the item
So if you want to repair a wooden item by 75% you would need 3 lvls + 3 wooden planks (+ 3*nb enchantment on the item).
