Once upon a time there was a biome vote. It was the first of its kind. And one of the losing biomes were the Deserts. And do you know what I said? "ADD THIS MOJANG!" So here are some of the cool features.
#1 Palm trees, also know as the coconut tree, will be an amazing addition to Minecraft. These trees are special because just before the leaves there are coconuts. These blocks are pretty detailed with different shades of brown revealing the hairy texture and 3 holes at the top. You can use a snowball to knock the coconut out of the tree. If it lands on a mob it does as much damage as an anvil. Arrows break them. The item is a coconut cut in half which you can eat or craft with a bucket to get milk. The colour of the palm planks is that jungle like colour that was supposed to be added to the mangrove tree. The log is 5 pixels smaller in width from all sides and at the top of the log there is a rim the goes the width of a normal block. The bark is like an almost greyish, brown colour.
#2 meerkats are almost like ocelots but instead of spots they have stripes on their back. They can stand up and if you give them fish they will dig the ground and take out a random item.
#3 Oasis will be the only place palm trees spawn and one of the places Meerkats spawn. The floor is Moss, the chances of getting ores sky rocket under this mini biome and there is a big pool in the middle with fish which is why meerkats visit so often
