What: Instead of skipping night when sleeping, the game speeds up while sleeping.
Why: This makes night more relevant, but doesn't make it a huge part of the game if the player doesn't want it to be. It also speeds up smelting and crop growth when sleeping. It also improves the survival aspects of Minecraft. Before if you have a bed when it's sunset. You place the bed and spam "sleep" to completely skip night. Now it's different.
(For example: I left my base to go explore and it's turning night. I would have to set up camp by placing a campfire and building a small tent so I can sleep safely. The night speeds by and then it's day. However if I didn't set up camp and just slept I would of been attacked while sleeping and woken up 1/3 through the night.)
This makes the night survival system of Minecraft more relevant without removing beds or something.
How: When sleeping through the night you can still see a tiny bit and the game enters a phase called "Sleeping through night". During this phase the game tick speed increases by alot and keeps going until sunrise or a player stopped sleeping. It also semi-speeds up hunger depletion.
