I think it is kinda weird that you get apples from oak trees. It would be cool if they added Apple trees to the game. They would spawn occasionally in oak forests, birch forests, plains and taiga bioms. You won’t be able to get apples from oak and birch trees anymore. Apple trees would have their own wood type, Apple Log, and their own leaf type also. You get apple saplings from the leaves (just like other trees).
Also it would be cool if cherry trees gave you cherries.
But you DON’T have to cut down the trees to get apples or cherries. Instead, you pick the apples/cherries from the leaf blocks, by right clicking.
This is how it works:
When an apple tree is fully grown, the bottom leaf blocks have a 1 in X chance of turning into a leaf block with apples. If you right click on a leaf block that has apples in it, it drops 2-5 apples. The same is for cherry trees, except that it drops 5-10 cherries.
Once you have picked the apples/cherries from a leaf block, that block can grow apples/cherries again.
This is what an apple tree could roughly look like, when all the bottom leaves have grown apples:
(The apples would be less pink and more red, and the trunk wouldn’t be bamboo wood, but apple wood. I used the bamboo wood and azalea leaves, because it looked the most similar to what I had in mind.)
