Need to use controllers on PC Java edition

I am disabled and need to be able to use the controller on the PC Java edition. I am not able to maneuver the boat and stuff with the keyboard.

    I am also disabled and currently limited to a laptop which is difficult to stay sat comfortably without pain with a keyboard mouse set up to play with.
