The newest lightsource addition for 1.21, the copper bulb, is crafted using 3 copper blocks, one redstone dust and one blaze rod.
The problem: blaze rods are not currently obtainable in peaceful mode. This means peaceful players can never craft them. It also means any players who avoid the nether entirely cannot craft them.
Solution 1: Use villagers or wandering traders for blaze rods. This has been suggested in the past due to not being able to get them in peaceful mode. Maybe we can trade them from the wandering trader or buy them from cleric villagers at master or max trading level.
Solution 2: change the recipe to use a glowstone block or a redstone lamp in place of the blaze rod.
Solution 3: Piglins have a chance of trading blaze rods. This would still stop players who avoid the nether from obtaining the rods but it would provide an alternative way to get them while still posing a slight nether challenge.
Personally I would like to be able to obtain blaze rods in an alternative way instead of changing the crafting recipe because this would solve the issue of peaceful players not being able to get to the end as well.
Additionally, peaceful mode still allows for trading with piglins, so either piglin trading, wandering trader purchases, or cleric villager trading would be a viable option for peaceful players.
