    I think also bats can lead player to their dropped items like a item that you dropped is in so depth so the bat will lead you to it like floating you

    I think it would be a good change if they at least didn't fly in circles to random directions and didn't fly in lava

    maybe giving you an effect of localization (like dolphins give you dolphin grace) so you can see important minerals glowing to locate them easily

    I would love the idea of baby bats! And the cave idea is cool. :D

    When leading the player to any points of interest, it would be neat - although completely fantastical - if any bats fed glow berries would swarm the player at the press of a button, thus 'shrouding' them from the view of hostile mobs.

    If enough bats are befriended, this can essentially make the player invisible to mobs, although they would disperse after a minute or so, or if the player attacks any entity. (Or perhaps this ability could only be activated if the player is wearing a specal armour.)

    P.S - Wouldn't making Glow Berries breed and guide players cause groups of bats to multiply and lead players at the same time? Perhaps bats could only guide players when fed a new cave fruit.

    The glow berries are a good idea, it adds another use. I'm not sure it needs to do anything fancy, but just the basics is a great start! I also do like point 2, even though it may be a bit harder to implement.

    I know the focus of the update is not 'exploration' and that the bat updates weren't actually part of 1.21, but they are close enough together that it could be fitting anyways.

    It would also be interesting for mapmaking if bats could help you navigate but got lost in wool chambers due to the other vibration mechanics.

    I think bat will be good edition if they not just helpful but also somewhat gave impression of something not to mess with, in small number they act the same as always being an ambient mob, but in large number let say 6 or more, they will became neutral mob that will attack and swarm player or other mob that disturb them, their hit dealt little damage and maybe give player blindness effect just enough to annoy player to not mess with them, if during bat persuit their number go down under the swarm behavior number, they will back to their passive behavior
