painted/colored iron armor

in vanilla minecraft copper rusts while iron doesnt which makes no sense at all because i took in science that iron is more reactive than copper so it should rust faster so i came up with a good idea.
make iron rust and add a way to paint it /color it, or mix it with copper to not rust it will give copper a great use. when an iron tool or armor rusts it gets less durability but the rust is removable by putting it in an anvil with an axe but it takes axe durability, or make a way to remove the rust with the fletching table  that will also give it a use. if you made iron armor and tools paintable or colorable add various colors like maybe every color leather armor have and make a way to craft different colors/ paints. it will look really cool and will add more decoration to the game i think everyone will use it. i have a picture about it but cant insert it
