The Totem of Undying in its current state is, quite simply, broken and unfun. When originally added, they were intended to be a limited and valuable resource found by seeking out Woodland Mansions, only being used when absolutely necessary. Now, with the advent of raid farms, players can acquire HUNDREDS of totems in a trivial amount of time. This allows anyone with access to a simple raid farm the ability to cheat death countless times in a row with little consequence, making dying avoidable in most scenarios and PvP awkward and dull. It's quite obvious they need a serious rework.
My suggestion is for a quick fix that would make totems significantly less overpowered and more interesting, yet still useful to the player: adding a cooldown. This would prevent the use of repeatedly using totems in PvP or any other dangerous scenario, making death a larger risk and promoting greater caution approaching bosses, the Deep Dark, etc.. In my opinion, reworking beyond this is needed also, but the adding of a cooldown of even 30 seconds would balance the Totem substantially and overall enhance the Minecraft experience.
