This could be a great block for redstone farms, but there should be a block that can place other blocks too. This is just a thought though.

The Crafter should have been crafted with copper ingots instead of iron... We have enough uses for iron already, copper needs more use in redstone!

it should use the recipe book. That will make it work so much better and stop less.

I think that the current implementation is genius! It is simple and just relies on the player's intuition. It would be nice though if you could toggle slots via some sort of redstone signal for fully automatic crafting.

That, and we need placer blocks. And for the player that thinks that it should use copper, iron is clearly the industrial ore, judging by mojang's actions. Copper is clearly in the tools area and should be used for tools only.

The Crafter is a great block to have if you want to automate farms further. E.G. an automatic bamboo farm can become an automatic stick or bamboo log farm. However, there is an issue I would like to point out. If you wanted to make a small automatic paper farm, you can’t without player interaction because you end up getting masses of sugar instead.
I do have two suggestions that could solve this:
    1. If you click on the box that shows the crafted item, a list of every item shows up. All you have to do is click on an item name, e.g. paper, and, as long as the correct items are arranged in the right way to create the item you want, when a redstone signal is emitted, it creates that item. You would still have to work out the recipe yourself to create the item you want.
    2. My other suggestion is to do with the toggle-able slots where the items fall into. If you put 1 sugar cane in and 1 slot was activated, sugar would be created. However, if you put 1 sugar cane in and the top 3 slots were activated, nothing would come out once a redstone signal was emitted. You would have to put 3 sugar canes inside to make an item fall out (paper would be that item in this case). If 4 slots were activated and 4 sugar canes were put inside, nothing happens once redstone activates the Crafter. This is because there isn’t an item that requires this recipe.
I hope this problem can be solved so that people can create automatic paper farms their own way. Hope this makes sense and thanks for reading

I am loving playing with the crafter, and am building a new automated facility.  The main issue is you need to always have more than 1 item in each slot, or the crafter breaks.  If any slot runs out, that slot will fill with anything.  Just what we need, another 100 crafting tables for the furnaces.

In automation, you need to fill all slots until hoppers overflow(by itself, this takes a lot of time manually filling).  As previously posted, I think there should be a lock/unlock button.  Having all slots contain more than 1 item before the crafter outputs a 1 signal might not be as reliable.

I do not think it needs a recipe book as 1)once set, it may not get changed for a long time, 2)the recipe book would need to get fixed(to allow hover over to show item names).  Now, if the book gets fixed, then o.k.

An/or the crafter has a list of the last 5 or so unique items it was set for, then well, yes.

    Thanks for reading. R.

I love this so much, But I can't use it's full potential because I can't specify the type of item I want to craft with this, like I've tried a lot of method I know to automate stick crafting for trading but I still failed because it crafts a lot of buttons instead of sticks. I suggest if you add a lock toggle so that the predetermined recipe won't be crafted by the crafter unless each of the item in the crafter was stacked

The crafter should require a fuel source like its most modded equivalents.

A problem with many modded mc bases, is that they have so much "magical 1 block machines", that it takes away the complexity and fun of both building new redstone machines, and also creating the buildings to house them.

Making the crafter a multi-block structure and maybe requiring some fuel source, would be great. Otherwise I feel alot of modpacks might just remove the crafter altogether.

    Great idea!

However, I struggle to use it. If I want to automate it entirely, I just cannot time putting each item in the right spot. There needs to be an easier way somehow. But idk how.

But I love this because now some blocks that couldn't be automated in a farm, now can.

The crafter should be more rapid on crafting. If it's not efficient, nobody will use it expect redstone players.

The crafter is broken. I made a bread maker using observers and it spits out wheat faster than it can craft the bread. You should add a recipe book where it will only spit out items when it has crafted that specific item.
