It might be an unpopular opinion, but its hard to say you guys didn't know EXACTLY what you were doing when you decided the crab was going to be part of this years mob vote. As soon as the crab was announced, it no longer mattered what the other mobs were. Everyone is going to vote for the crab, and it will not matter if it makes the game better or not.
Looking at the mob votes of prior years make the mob votes of new seem like uninspired token efforts to keep the tradition rolling rather than something produced by people who truly love what they do.
There have been a lot of these decisions like this lately that simply don't make the game better, here are just a few examples.
‣ Limiting villager curing.
‣ Limiting villager trades based on biome.
‣ Limiting villager trades.
‣ Pretty much everything related to decorated pots
I keep asking myself "How do these changes make the game more fun?" or "Who does this change benefit?" and correct me if I'm wrong, but the answer looks to be either "no one" or a very small subset of the community that could care less.
