Utilizing Scutes for Shield Upgrades

As the idea states, utilizing Scutes to upgrade a Shield (At the expense of not being able to have a banner on the shield due to the Upgrade) would be a fun idea.

One of the Mob Vote Mobs for 2023, the Armadillo is supposed to drop Armadillo Scutes, which is supposed to be used for Dog Armor. Should this mob win this year's vote, then perhaps it's Armadillo Scutes can be utilized to upgrade the Shield, adding a little bit to the maximum durability and the equivilant of Fire Protection IV, which can help players venture the Nether a bit easier.

Turtle Scutes with this idea can also be utilized in a similar fashion, which when upgrading the shield with them will add a little bit to the maximum durability and give the equivilant of Knockback Resistance +1.

  You know what might be neat? Perhaps making the upgraded shield give passive defense in addition to the blocking mechanic. might be a bit broken though.

  I think the progression should be: Base Shield -> Shield with armadillo scute -> Shield with turtle scute

   

  Since all you need to get the armadillo scute is the brush, and for the turtles you need a longer process

   

  I think the banners should be kept. When you upgrade the shield, its base texture changes, but the gray edges could also change, so that when you use a banner, you can tell what type of shield it is by the edges. 

   

  And really, I think the only thing that should change the shield for the better is an increase in durability and maybe more resistance to axes.
