Paint

You should be able to make paint. You make it with dye, and you can mix colors, ect, and you can paint blocks. You could paint each side a different color, and it would keep the texture, just color it differently. It would be so convenient for builds.
It would take a day to dry. If it is fresh, and water touches it, it would wash off. If you want to change the color, paint over it. If it is dry, there would be a cloth or wet sponge or something, that you could use to revert it to its original.
