Adding a mob that spawns rarely in caves that can function as a renewable source for certain ore materials, such as diamonds, would be really fun.
imagine, a small fluffy rock-like creature that's about the size of a minecraft spider, with a slight amount of gray-brown fluff sprouting from it's back, with the tips of the fur coated with crystals. when sheared, it would drop 1 of the ore drop (ex. 1 diamond, 1 lapis, 1 raw iron, 1 netherite scrap) as well as a small piece of it's fluff (1-2 items). it would regenerate the fluff every roughly 15 min - 1 hour real life time, depending on the resource.
The rarity of the resource would also be more rare to find, and the creature wouldn't be breedable, making it difficult to make large scale farms of them, but more of just a late game passive gem/mineral source. some would also only be able to spawn at certain heights or locations (ex. echo shard only in deep darks, diamond only beneath y:0, coal only above y:0, netherite scraps only in the nether beneath y:30) and would be customizable with giving them certain rocks (deepslate, netherrack, stone, andesite, granite, diorite varients) but those would have no impact on drops or behaviour.
This would help solve issues with having more trouble finding resources late game, and reduce the amount of grinding in the caves. they would despawn regularly, unless sheared at least once as well. This would also, hopefully, be a cute mob that provides slightly more ambience and ultility!
