    I'll note that removing the biome-specific trades probably isn't going to happen, but I'll still argue that it's not entirely necessary.

    Firstly, the argument that using villagers to get overpowered gear earlier than intended shouldn't be a main concern. Given how much effort a large-scale trading hall takes (Breeding, transporting, zombifying, curing, protecting, etc.), and the amount of resources necessary to build one, it would be comparably faster to mine to get good gear instead. I've also found that villagers aren't used to get good gear too quickly, but instead to get more/replacement gear late-game without as much effort.

     

    I also feel like I didn't put enough emphasis on how much travel-time will impact this, as well as XP requirements. That alone puts even more labor requirements into utilizing villagers effectively, and unless you're to the point where you have XP farms and elytra's (At which point the main concern behind villagers is lost), villagers become unusable.
