After having come back to Minecraft from being away for years, Copper was a new ore to me, and in much more abundance than Iron, but with much less use. I have a list of ideas that can flesh out the uses of copper ore and ingots:
1. Copper Tools and Armor - I have seen a few posts about this and completely agree, seeing as how early you can find copper and it now takes much longer to get iron, I would love to see copper tools and armor as the in-between for Stone-Iron Tools and Leather-Iron armor.
2. Create Alloys - This is something that could enhance the experience of Minecraft and can start with copper. Mixing ores such as copper and gold to make a rose gold can add more options to decorations, not only that, but if combine copper with iron, you get a more heat resistant copper-iron alloy. If Tin ore/ingots are added as well, then we can create bronze which is an even more durable for of copper. Also by adding the option for alloys we could look into making steel and having that become a next step above iron and below diamonds. Alloys adds another feature to the crafting in Minecraft and would be a most welcome one if it allows the enhancements of tools and armor.
3. Piping - Using Copper to create pipes and move liquids such as water and lava between two(or more) points can make transporting liquids much easier and maybe even draining areas.
4. Copper Stake - To inhibit plant growth with copper stakes, maybe you want to prevent grass.
5. Lightning Rods - Lean into electricity?
