Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I believe that these improvements should be a "reforging" that improves some characteristics at the expense of others.
Give the sword a curve, changing attack speed and damage.
Forge a Knuckle Bow on a weapon so that it can block.
Cover the shield with leather or metal.
Wrap the handles with leather or wire, make them from bone, horn.
And a lot more, this should definitely be on a separate table and not a regular workbench.

Or you can not waste your time and instead just make a stone sword without going through the trouble of looking for an upgrade template just to make your wooden sword a stone one. And if you could use an upgrade template to turn iron tools into diamond, it would make the quantity of diamonds you have even less valuable, as just a few diamonds could get you a full diamond set. Sacrificing a great deal of your materials for better gear is an important part of the game, and to have it replaced would be detrimental to the game.
