Minecraft should have a gamemode that gives the player more freedom than what creative mode provides. We can't always build however we like in Minecraft because some blocks have specific requirements to be placed like how flowers can only be planted on soil blocks. There should be a gamemode that allows you to bypass those requirements.
I'm going to call this gamemode the Debug Gamemode where you can place blocks where you can't normally place them like wheat on stone, torches on side of fences, or even non-hanging lanterns on air.
What would be the difference between Debug and Creative?
Well in Debug,
- Blocks can be placed literally anywhere (except air, you still need a block to place on)
- Block placed by players in Debug Mode do not update (e.g. water won't flow, crops won't grow, stairs won't become corner stairs)
- You phase through blocks (just like Spectator, but you're visible)
- Mobs spawned by players in Debug Mode have no AI
- You can't open blocks with GUIs (e.g. crafting table, loom)
- Your hand acts like a debug stick so you can't use it to break blocks (you must use any item to do so)
Every block in Minecraft has so many potential to be used in creative ways. I've seen maps that do this and I wonder if it would one day be easy to accomplish it by just adding it directly to the game. I personally want to be able to use coral without worrying about water in my builds in creative mode.
