When in caves or in low light levels, they can simply provide a trail to follow out of a dangerous environment. Additionally could create a sound signal equivalent to gravel that skulk blocks could pick up when walked on.

Bread crumbs can also be used in crafting recipes with various meat types to make breaded meats, slightly increasing their hunger restoration. Breaded chicken, breaded fish, etc.

Finally, bread crumbs can be dropped into a composter with the same amount of progress as wheat seeds.
