Reinforcing would be kind of like using smithing templates. First, you would craft your choice of metal with magma creating something called a metal alloy, which would stay hot for only a short period of time, during which you can combine a smithing template with the armor of your choice. Reinforced armor will last longer, and the stronger the materiel you chose, the longer the armor lasts. There are only three things you can reinforce with, all metals; gold, copper, and iron. Gold is the weakest, and iron the strongest. Reinforced armor with copper renames the copper to bronze. Armor reinforced with iron renames the iron to heavy. Armor reinforced with gold does two things; the alloy is renamed to gilded, and piglins won't attack. You can also reinforce weapons and tools, including bows and crossbows, though this requires a fletching table. Also, you don't need a smithing template for the weapons and tools. On bows and crossbows, copper is the strongest reinforcement.
