Yeah yeah wireless redstone yadi-yada, you know people want it, you heard them all...
But this system is different (I know, how original).
Inspired by the Calibrated Sculk Sensor, you could say the engineers of Minecraft figured out a new device.
The Redstone Relay is similar in shape to the Sensor (a solid iron base with a redstone lantern), BUT you can interact with it much like a hopper.
This means it has an inventory of 3 to 5 slots. In each slot, you can place one single item. No stacks.
That selection of items (and its order) will act as a secret code.
When receiving a Redstone pulse, the Relay will broadcast that pulse to other Relays which share the same secret code inventory in a 8 to 16 blocks radius. The Relays which receive the pulse won't broadcast it wirelessly again like the Calibrated Sculk Sensor would, but they will propagate the pulse to connected redstone devices touching them from below or on the sides.
This would give the player FAR BETTER wireless control than the Calibrated Sculk Sensor ever did (also avoiding the need to carefully place a lot of wool around it to prevent it from catching unwanted pulses), also putting an end to long spaghetti-circuits of Redstone dust.
This idea is inspired by how Teleporters work in the game Creativerse. There, to connect two teleporters together, you have to match the items of their 3-slot inventory. If more than two teleporters share the same inventory, you'll be teleported to one of them randomly.
