Painting Armor

The inclusion of armor trims is great, but I still think there should be one more add-on to armor customization: to paint them.  Leather is the only armor that is able to be painted currently, and while I believe we should keep that function, adding some sort of "paint" item to iron, gold, diamond, netherite, and maybe even chainmail would make this function better.  And I know what you are all thinking, if you can presumably paint any armor any color, how can you tell the difference from other armor?  My solution to this would be that the armor has some small areas that aren't painted.  Areas that are small enough to still show color but big enough to still identify what armor a person has on.  If this is added, people can have even more customization along with the armor trims Minecraft has ever had.
