Basic Idea: Allow players to deselect items they do not want to pick up.
As Minecraft continues to add more items to the game, more and more of the player's time is spent managing the inventory. One attempted solution, bundles, allowed the player to pick up more types of items in a single slot, but did not solve the issue that the player still has to actively manage the inventory. Adding more slots also does not fix this issue, it just allows the player to pick up more items that will eventually be even more difficult to sort through.
I propose adding a menu (either in the settings or through an in game ui at some kind of workstation block) that allows the player to deselect items that he or she does not wish to pick up. By default all items would be turned on, but if a player was tired of having his or her inventory full of unwanted items, he or she could deselect those items. This would allow players to customize their own play style. A potion focused player would rather have an empty slot for spider eyes than a single poppy he or she happened to pick up, while a player focused on building gardens would rather pick up poppies instead of a single spider eye.
If players want to pick up an item they have deselected, they could simply open their inventory while standing near the dropped item and it would pop into an empty slot as usual.
Deselected stackable items would continue to be stacked in any inventory slot that already contained that item.
