Endurance for animals

The horses, lamas, camels, donkeys, and other ridable mobs of Minecraft should have endurance. For example a horse without armor can only run 300 blocks before getting tired, and will have to lay down and rest for one min before moving again. With armor the distance is slightly shorter.

  Then why would we pick animals over just walking. Few people ride on animals anyway so they would need to be buffed.
