Dragon Scales AND New Armor Type

If an end dimension is added to Minecraft, I believe that adding an armor type which stems off of netherite would be a great addition. This feature would allow for many structures to be made off of it as well. In essence, dragon scales are an item which may be obtained in various quantities upon killing the ender dragon. There are two paths this item could take in terms of crafting. The player may either directly apply each individual scale to their currently existing netherite armor similar to netherite ingots being added on to diamond armor, OR, it could go down another path in which the dragon scales are instead dropped as shards of dragon scales which need to be pieced back together to form a whole shard. If they are to be combined, however, the scale shards would need an adhesive. I was thinking that maybe four scale shards and four dragon breath might work, however I feel like there is a possibility for another item to be used to adhere the scale shards together, something new perhaps. After the full and intact shards have been obtained, I felt that having some sort of dragon altar structure far out in the void could be used to combine Netherite armor with the dragon scales, thus creating dragon scale armor. A random thought I had is that maybe some sort of dragon soul or essence could be dropped from the dragon and used as a consumable with the armor to provide the player with temporary bonuses similar to a beacon.
