Slabs made from a block of earth and grass would be great for decorating landscape level transitions when building cities, etc. They should not spawn at world generation, but players could create them with a shovel by placing the required block and the corresponding shovel into the workbench.
Moreover, for each such use, the shovel could lose some of its strength. It seems to me that even in the later stages of the game, it will make sense for players to create shovels from simpler materials, such as wood or stone.
As a more difficult to implement alternative (but also more interesting mechanics), I can offer the creation of earthen and grass slabs with the shift + rmb combination, because. with a simple rmb shovel on the grass we get paths. Well, the third (most banal) option is the creation of earthen and grass slabs, in the same way
like other types of plates (three in a row in a workbench). It seems to me that this small innovation will bring a lot of joy to builders, and just lovers of aesthetics in their world.
