Make melee crits ignore the melee attack cooldown, making all crits do full damage and making crits not reset the melee attack timer. This would make melee combat quicker, add more player freedom, and increase skill expression all with a very small change.
This would also massively increase the amount of damage done in melee combat, so base melee damage might have to be decreased or melee cooldown timer might have to be increased so fights in iron armor or below don't end too quickly, and so survival doesn't become too easy.
