Tell me if you've experienced this before: You spawn in a new world. You get exactly what you need for a wooden pickaxe. Then you collect 3 cobblestone for a stone pickaxe, all before doing anything else.
I wanna see more use of each tier, and not because of an 'you can just choose so' reason. Making the different tiers of equipment and mineable block more defined, will serve in this.
- (updated rule) Blocks and tools have a tier (yes, I know they already do), and a tool must be at equal tier (or higher)- and be the dedicated tool to break a given block.
Your fists counts as a tier-0 "all purpose tool/weapon" that can only break soft blocks like; dirt, gravel and foliage. Combining a stick, flint and string or "plant fiber" (new substitute to string), you can craft a tier-1 "primitive axe" (primitive tools replaces wooden).
Now this time, you must venture, fx: by challenging a low-tier boss or brave a hostile environment, to acquire new uncommon ingredients, that you'll need to make the next tier of equipment.
- You gotta setup and of preparing for the venture that, if successful, leaves you better better equipped than before.
- There gotta be sidegrades, and you gotta be able to upgrade your old items into the next tier.
- Occasionally, you gotta upgrade your crafting stations, to work with higher tier materials.
- Reaching higher tiers, enables you to reach and survive greater heights and depths, fx: deepslate must be mined with a iron pickaxe or better. No digging straight to bedrock.
