Since there are many new mobs being added to Minecraft such as frogs, camels, sniffers, etc. I think that it is time snakes get added to Minecraft and have different types of snakes for specific biomes. Sometimes snakes will spawn in structures to give the player an additional challenge.
For the Desert Biome, Desert Temple, and Jungle Temple: There is a cobra, cobras can also appear in jungle temples too but with a different coloration of their body. If a cobra in a desert biome or desert temple bites the player, Poison III will be inflicted upon the player. If a cobra in a jungle temple bites a player, Poison IV will be inflicted.
For the Badlands and Mesa Biome: There is a rattlesnake, and like all snakes, they only attack when you get too close. When a rattlesnake bites you, poison II is inflicted.
For the Jungle biome: There is an anaconda, anacondas attack by biting the player and if they manage to bite them, a stretched out display of their body patterns appear over the screen as the player starts to lose health, this is to give the effect of constriction and works similarly to if a player suffocates in sand or gravel. A way to stop the constriction is to spam the hit button until it lets go.
All snakes attack when the player gets too close to them or if the player attacks them or if they prey on biome specific creatures such as rabbits or sheep. Cobras and rattlesnakes drop venom glands which can be crafted with water to create anti-venom. Anacondas drop loads of XP.
