Waxable sniffer and turtle eggs

You should be able to wax sniffer and turtle eggs making them not hatch so you can use them for decoration

    Do you suppose one could get the wax off by breaking the eggs or using an axe?

    One thought is that the only way to stop the eggs from hatching is to kill them (ie. splash potion of poison...) which is irreversible (obviously)
    This is distasteful to do, but realistic... like killing parrots with cookies.

    This would be a phenomenal feature I love making museums but it's hard to display an egg that hatches

    Turtle eggs (sort of) already function like this; they only hatch while on sand blocks, making them good for decoration on most blocks. All placeable eggs should function similar to this so that their use isn't limited to just hatching mobs. Requiring honeycomb to wax them may be a better method, though.
