Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Wait, I was thinking clay because it already had bricks, but I realized nothing else would work. Also, I believe adding these blocks would paradoxically help there to not be an overwhelming amount of blocks in the game. Think about it: Right now, you think, "Why are there all these blocks?" but if it was consistent, you would think, "What's the big deal? It's just around 10 rock blocks with around 10 variants."

In general, I agree with you, but there are many more exceptions. For example, most rocks are matte or porous, they cannot be polished unless varnished or something like that, it just stays the same.
As for fissures, some rocks initially consist of small pieces, like cobblestone, netherrack, obsidian, sandstone.
