similar to how you can stop copper from ageing using wax, you should be able to waterlog coral with a bottle of water, meaning that the coral won't die when not touching water, allowing you to use the colorful coral blocks in more builds. After waterlogging you are left with just a bottle, and you can un-waterlog the coral by using an empty bottle on it, filling the bottle.
