Let's talk about Sign Improvements!

In this week's snapshot and preview, we're sneaking in some sign improvements which we intend to release in the upcoming Trails & Tales Update. Here's what's new: 

Features

  • Signs have improved customization options
  • Sign text can now be edited after being placed in the world
  • Both sides of the Sign can now have separate text and colors, allowing for further customization options
  • By default, a Sign will prompt you to input the front side's text when placed
  • To apply text to the back-side, you must walk to the other side and interact with that face to edit it
  • Signs can now also be waxed with Honeycomb, preventing any further edits to its text

    Editing signs should only be done with a brush. I can't even put a sign on a chest or a door anymore without the risk of clicking on the sign.

    maybe if you use multiple dyes on a sign, it could mix the colors, unless the player uses a certain item to remove the color, which gives back the dyes used or if there are multiple used, gives back brown dye.

    I guess the UI of the signs need to be reworked like making 4 bars for the lines and the ability to change the colour, style (bold, italic, etc...) and size for each line individually and would take out the dyes/ glowing inc sac in survival mode from the inventory of the player in real time and also show a preview on the side

    i love those ideas! i didnt know that you could edit both sides or wax them. i was literally about to post the same ideas! 😂 pretty neat! 😆

    I think we should choose to be able to resize the text, and also have a ability to be put on any object in mc with a hitbox, and waxed like some others to avoid being griefed by other players.

    I think signs are cool, but I would like it if hanging signs could face straight forward because it always faces the side. And for the normal signs I think you should be able to change the font and size.

    The new signs are just, WOW, I love it, signs are way better now! One thing though!
    It would be cool if you could put like pictures on signs or something. But anyway, the new signs are amazing!

    Love the changes! My only feedback is, allow the player to click through signs onced they've been waxed to allow the player to easily access chests behind the sign. Keep up the good work.

    I would like a way to add a 'label' to the sign which replaces the wood texture on the face with white besides the edges. The text as of current can be difficult to read against the wood text.
