Another great update to the smithing table is happening in 1.20. Adding in armor trims, and netherite upgrade (Not thanks to this, this makes it harder for me to get maxed out gear in three hours). Another great addition to the smithing table would be goat horns helmets. Like the turtle shell, it would give you several buffs to your gear. You could:
-Hold down the jump button to get a leaping charge, that charges up just like a horse jump charges up.
-Rechargeable thorns attack. If a player hits you with a goat helmet, it would deal out a much larger amount of damage instead of thorns three, maybe 12 damage. It would have a 30 second recharge time to not make it over powered, and the big buff that I think we PVPer’s would like the most, no extra durability lost.
-Strength 2 or 3 when you get low on health would be a great boost.
Protection bars on the helmet would vary on what you were doing. The original helmet would be made with 3 iron (top middle, middle left, and middle right) and 2 goat horns (Top left and top right). You could upgrade it to Diamond on the smithing table, and then netherite with a Diamond Goat Helmet. Iron would add in 1 bar of protection, Diamond 2, and netherite 3
A new change introduced in 1.20 is that you need an upgrade smithing template for netherite. For goat horns, It would be a new goat horn upgrade template. You could find these in a new structure, the Abandoned Cabin, which spawns with chests with enchanted books and the updgrade template.
Thanks!
