I propose that pots be given the ability to contain1of any item.
The crafting recipe for a filled pot is similar to that of an empty pot but with one key difference: the crafting grid's center slot. Basically, whenever a single item is surrounded by 4 pottery shards/bricks,
Once crafted, this filled pot will display lore below its name which indicates that something is inside (an in-universe explanation for how the player knows this is that they can feel the difference between the weight of a filled pot and an empty pot). Aside from the lore, this new pot is almost completely indistinguishable from regular Decorated Pots in terms of placing and breaking them.
The main difference becomes apparent when the pot is smashed with a tool. When this occurs, the pot drops all of its ingredients (4 pottery shards/bricks) and its contents (whatever item was contained within).

Overall, this feature is a fun and immersive mechanic that in no way affects the block's original intended use (as a decoration).
Due to the character limit (1500), I cannot fully detail this suggestion here. If want to learn more about this feature, I have a post on r/minecraftsuggestions that delves further into the benefits of adding a mechanic like this to Minecraft 1.20.
